The Tsunami on December 26, 2004 -
The effects and what we do...
In May of 1995, two Swiss who had remained young at heart, took over the KRABI SEAVIEW RESORT and fully renovated it over the next few months. In the meantime, Andre Gysin (above right, himself a PADI- dive instructor since December 1994) began to run the business independently. At the same time as the renovations of the resort were undertaken, the building of the PADI-diving school AO NANG DIVERS began. It opened as the third diving school here in AO NANG in November of 1995.
AO NANG DIVERS quickly met PADI standards for a 5-Star-diving school, and was therefore awarded this status on October 6th, 1997. Up until the end of October 2003, AO NANG DIVERS operated with the “good old Chok Suda", which now has been replaced. Full steam ahead is the motto of the AO NANG DIVERS, and as of November 1st, 2003 it will be full steam ahead on our brand-new luxury dive ship. With 25 meters in length and 5.5 meters in width, the "Petchmanee" boasts enough space for all our dive guests. A large dive deck ensures that nobody needs to step on the fins of the others. Every guest will find enough space on our sundeck (with adequate shade). And in case the weather is not agreeable, we offer a comfortably equipped salon with TV and CD-player. For your convenience, we offer another room for rest or leisure (this room is also suitable for seminars). Furthermore, the ship offers two cabins with bunks, just in case somebody does not feel too well.
The "Petchmanee" is powered with two motors (each 350PS) and therefore, she is the fastest dive ship in the entire region. Now we are able to fulfill the request of many of our divers, by being back in Ao Nang a little bit earlier after the dive trip. The compressors are located in the engine room and are no longer a noise factor. With having 10,000 liters of fresh water on the ship, it is guaranteed limitless shower opportunities.
And for your safety, we are equipped with a first aid kid, lots of oxygen (we are members of the organization "SSS Recompression Chamber Network", which is now also available in Ao Nang), CB-radio, telephone, and GPS.
Of course, AO NANG DIVERS still offers multi-day dive trips aboard other selected ships to Hin Daeng / Hin Muang, as well as to the Similans / Richelieu Rock / Surin and to Burma Banks.
Our complete infrastructure awaits you, dear diver, and we would be happy to be able to welcome you aboard in the near future. Our professionalism guarantees your safety! By the way, we speak and teach in German, French and English, but can also cater to other, mostly European languages upon request.
Until then, with a swiss-german "Guet Luft"
